Enjoying an amazing view of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo.

During May 2016, Professor Smyres led an educational tour of Rome, Florence and Siena. We walked over 80 miles on foot while learning about the history and culture of Italy. In Rome, we visited Piazza Navona, Trajan Column, Capitoline Hill, Santa Maria Maggiore, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Jewish Quarter, Galleria Borghese. We toured the Colosseum and Forum. We also went to the Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica. While in Florence we visited Piazzale Michelangelo, Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, and Museo Galileo. We saw the work of Caravaggio, Sandro Botticelli, Michelangelo, Artemisia Gentileschi, Giovanni Bernini, Leonardo Da Vinci, Filippo Brunelleschi and many more.
